i was just reading the LPM blog and beth moore was talking about how we should basically give god a standing ovation every time he comes through for us. i thought back to a few instances over the last 12 months where god has literally provided for us from his own hands and i don't think i got excited enough. i think i was too practical. like....yeah "god did it. of course he did." i mean i was excited but i didn't shout it! i didn't dance in his honor. our lives have had so many obstacles over the past year that even though he came through trouble was still there and still coming. Lord forgive me cause i was so intensely greatful. in aw that you'd give to me in spite of my sinfulness. so i want to share with you three big instances where God came through, among a million little things he's done, week by week. last summer, we were down to the wire. no more money and i was going out to get the mail thinking "well, lord, it's up to you. guess our check will be in the mail today right?" well, i opened the mail box, sifted through it all and nothing. just bills. i shrugged my shoulders and turned to walk back in the house thinking, well, you'll provide. i went to open the front door and there taped to the front door was an unmarked envelope. somehow i hadn't seen it when i went out. i opened it and inside was a money order for $2000.00............did you see what i just said? $2000.00!!!!!!! i was speechless. he did it. AND he brought it by His own hand. how much more loving, personal, and intimate does it get? later in the fall we found out we still had an outstanding idaho state tax bill for about $1700. we somehow did not have enough in our return to pay it. they were threatening to place a lien on our home if we did not pay. we agreed to start payments of 100.00 a month (something we absolutely did not have the money to do). a few weeks later i got a call from the lady handling it saying it'd been paid in full and the debt was forgiven. WHAT? completely anonymous. we had not told anyone except my parents and they swore it wasn't them. thank you Father. you are sooooo good.
so the last big one i'd like to share happened the week before christmas. rich had two closings that were supposed to go through but had been post poned till after christmas (ugh, realestate transactions). we had no money. literally. monday morning, dec 17th, we had 65.00 in our account. no gifts had been purchased and bills were due. we had the fortunate opportunity to be paid for attending a hubble home training. because of rich's "vip" status with them we would make 200.00 per person who attended. so we went through the training on monday thinking we'd get paid the 800.00 the next day. we were told that morning that checks wouldn't be cut till at least thursday and with the holidays, we wouldn't get the money till after christmas. i hung up the phone and cried. i felt alone, abandoned. once again, such weak faith. i called my mom. she prayed with me and we prayed God's blessing and provision in faith over our finances. i got off the phone and i had a message. it was debbie (treasurer at our church). she said we had a love offering at the church and to call. my heart pounded. i called and it was for 500.00! i cried. again. You came through Lord. why did i doubt? why do i doubt? i picked it up the next morning and two days later, our check for the training came. a week earlier than we'd expected.
i love you lord. i want to shout your name from the mountain tops cause i DO love you and i'm so greatful. you gave your son for us. of course you would provide.

it seems like all of a sudden we have medical bills we didn't plan for, a missions trip coming up that we have no idea how we are going to pay for...not to mention the everyday money takers. He has provided in the past and i know he will provide now. i love to hear stories like yours and it made me think. i am always so thankful but i don't show it like i should. he is so mighty. made me think of this passage. matthew 7:7-11

Wow! that is powerful. we too have been blessed in times of need. We had medical bills coming in every direction from camden's emergency surgery and had no idea how we were going to pay them. we prayed and knew that God would take care of us and st. al's and the anesthesia bills were completely forgiven. the hospitals wrote them off entirely. we paid nothing. our God is an awesome God. thanks for sharing.
That is so wonderful about all that He has done in your life. For Ben's grooms gift I gave him a complete box set of the Chronicles of Narnia and the audio drama cds to go with them... anyway, Ben was driving across Florida yesterday for a Pastor's meeting and he was listening to them in the car. He told me last night that in one of the last books there is a part where this boy was walking in the dark and he was talking to Asland, but he didn't know who Asland was and he was telling him about how horrible it was that He has seen so many lions on this trip and they were doing all these bad things and making His life so difficult. Asland told him that He was the lion who did this so that he would go on the right path, he was the kitten who comforted him in the cave, he was the lion who did something else to help protect him. All along the boy thought that these lions were doing all this hard but in face the lion was helping him grow. As their conversation went on the sun began to rise and the boy realized that he had been walking along an edge of a mountain the entire night and Asland was with him walking along the edge and kept him from falling off the mountain.
What a wonderful picture that is protrayed there about God walking along side of us, even when we don't realize that he is helping us to stay on the path. He does things for our good even though we don't always understand and then when we do we are so grateful for all that he has done (including the things that he does and we have no idea about them). Just the other day I got a card from a parent that just wanted to thank us for all that we do. She doens't know how much that means to me because it feels like you go and go and when people encourage one another its an amazing thing.
Anyway, I was very encouraged by your faith strengthening moments and I am so thankful that we serve an awesome God. I can't imagine what life is like no knowing about God and how can you know about him and not want to do everything in your power to serve Him? Love you!
