if you want to find us most days this summer, you'll have to leave south boise and head west. THIS is where our trail will lead. the pool at settler's bridge subdivision. admittedly, one of the nicest around the area. i must give the developer props on this one. my parents live in the sub so we get to frequent as "guests." the free entertainment can't be beat. my son is just now where he can appreciate the "beach style" walk in, that the pool offers. it's set up perfectly for little ones. a gradual decline, three little spouting water fountains, a palm tree with dumping coconuts, and a post that spews water out the top. he's still a bit more interested in the surrounding landscape, but the more confident he gets with the water, the more he likes it. he's come to the realization that he can lay himself down and keep his head up and that he can kick his legs in the water. he really likes this!
i'm glad his confidence is building, but i will admit i am looking forward to next summer when "mommy" feels a little more confident. in general, i try to keep a healthy balance of allowing him to explore, discover, and even get a little banged up with out getting nervous and fidgety, BUT the whole water thing is a different story. you can't necessarily get a way with a broken arm or a gash to the head....as much as those are terrible, they are not a loss of life. soooo, i tend to be on pins and needles a bit when he's near the water. i follow him around obnoxiously like a little puppy, nipping at his heels, but i just can't help myself. this is where swimming lessons are such a good investment. they will be a must this coming year. i will have to figure out a way to budget them, cause i cannot go another summer with him having no clue and thinking he's invincible. it will be worth it when i can let him run around splashing and falling and i don't have to be there to catch him every time.
well, happy summer days. hope all of you are out enjoying this nice hot weather just like we are and finding a place to cool your head and kick up your feet. i look forward to hearing all about it.

Even though our neighborhood is putting in a pool, I will still be heading to this one more often. I love how child friendly it is. I'd be there more often if we didn't live so freakin far away! Swim lessons, yeah, think it's time to invest in those for both of my kids. Need to find someone though where from beginning to end it's maybe a summer or 6 weeks. That's how I was taught, didn't need it dragged on.
That looks like a great pool! I know what you mean about following them around, you never can be too careful.
Side note, if you need some one to bang Rykon around give me a call, I seem to be doing pretty well at banging kids around these days
it's become my home away from home. the biggest benefit is it's free. the second plus, is it wears my kids out. the third bonus, is i love water myself and can't think of a better way to spend the day. us "guests" certainly wear out our welcome. see you there!
You lucky duck - that is a fabulous pool! Don't you just love summer? Hanging out at the pool, letting the kids splash and play with no mind to the time! Loving it :)K
