i think everyone likes a good smore sometimes. there's nothing like the perfect roasted marshmallow. add some chocolate and graham and wallaw! the american treat. i have fond memories of the oh so familiar dialogue about the smore on one of our favorite movies, "sandlot." it's a must have at any campfire. do you know they have toasted coconut marshmallows? oh yes! it's true. and they are D-lish. talk about sprucin it up a bit.
well, for those of you who do not get out for a good camping trip or bonfire often enough, i have a little recipe i found that just might fulfill any possible cravings you may have. i made them yesterday and they turned out great!
so here you go. your kids will love them.
BROWNIE SMORES
9 whole cinnamon or plain graham crackers, halved crosswise
3/4 cup unsalted butter, cut up (to make melting easier)
4 oz unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped (to make melting easier)
1 c sugar
1 c packed light brown sugar
2 t vanilla extract
3 eggs, lightly beaten
1 c all-purpose flour
1 1/2 c semisweet or milk chocolate chips - optional
35 regular sized marshmallows
heat oven to 350. spray 13x9 in baking pan with cooking spray. arrange graham crackers over bottom of pan, overlapping slightly or breaking to fit, if necessary.
melt butter and chocolate in a med saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently. remove from heat, stir in both sugars and vanilla till blended. stir in eggs. stir in flour (batter will be smooth and shiny) stir in chips. spoon and gently spread over graham crackers (carefully so as not to move grahams)
bake 35-40 minutes til top is just set and toothpick comes out with moist crumbs attached.
heat broiler. place marshmallows on their sides evenly over top of brownies. broil 30sec to 2 minutes....just until mallow is puffed and tops are golden brown.
serve warm or room temp.

Mmmmm! Those sound great! I'll have to give them a whirl when I get back! Thanks for sharing!
This recipe sounds great! I like to eat smores all year round. I just use marshmallow fluff that comes in the jar and hot fudge. Heat the hot fudge a few seconds in the microwave and add some fluff and you've got a smore without flames. My kids love it too. My waistline??? Not so much! :O)
I'm off to the store. LOVE a good dessert :)K
