since i was 19, i've wanted to go see cirque du soleil in vegas. i remember getting off the plane, walking out the corridor and seeing these large screens. an advertisement was playing for this fantastic, eclectic, circus type of act with amazing artists, acrobats, colors, and music. i was hooked. i knew i had to see it. well, it has only been 13 years since then... no biggie. thanks to someone very dear to me... my husband and i got to go see it saturday night when it came through town. my husband did not know what to expect, but was hooked after the first act. there probably are not words to describe what we saw. if anyone has seen any cirque du soleil performance then you know what i'm talking about. the things these people do with their bodies, their strength, flexibility, rhythm, and even their voices. there was juggling, cycling, acrobats, contortionists, clowns, dancers, fliers, and more that i wouldn't know how to describe. even as i'm filtering through my mind, i cannot remember all the wonders we saw. i just know it was fabulous and i cannot wait to see another.

i do however have one disclaimer. there were a couple characters, maybe just one, that was very provocative. they always seem to work it in don't they? she was only out a couple times and the emphasis was not on her, she was more like filler. but i'd say all in all, this one is probably one of their cleanest. i can't say they all are. i know of one that is borderline pornographic, if you do get to see a show just be careful which one you choose. they are probably for a bit of an older audience too because of that.
one last thing about the evening. it has to do with our babysitter. she's a good friend of my mom's and now mine and she loves my son. she was thrilled when we asked her to watch him. when i went to pick him up that night, she thanked ME for letting her and her daughter watch him. did i hear that right? talk about icing on the cake. there's just nothing better than being able to leave your child in a safe, loving enviroment knowing that the person adores your child almost as much as you do and protects them with the same kind of passion as you. this gift is priceless. so thank you my friend. you are a true treasure and blessing to our family. we love you and your daughter so much! you made a great evening even better.

Saltimbanco is tame. I work on Kooza and it gets even dirtier, Zumanity is an adults only show and that's the one you were alluding to.
Acrobats are nothing if not physical and thus sensual by the very nature of what they do. Clowns, well clowns are meant to provoke (not just to make you laugh like in American circuses) that also is their role and very nature. The jester was the only one who could mock the king and not get the guillotine. It's all in good fun, celebrating our humanity.
I used to work on Saltimbanco also, it's a great show. I'm glad you loved it.
Yes we loved it too! We went Wednesday night. It was a gift to the Mister for our 17 year wedding anniversary! He has always LOVED the acrobat part any show/circus/etc.
It was so great! We really enjoyed it.
(Like how I get HIM a gift that I can also enjoy? ;) It takes many years of marriage to perfect that! LOL)
LOVE Cirque du Soleil - so wanted to go and take the kiddos so they could experience it, but...
Glad you and your guy were able to get some time together after all your ill health! :)K
