happy mother's day

thanks. i'll take that kind gesture. when asked what i wanted this year, the only thing that really came to mind was, time off. let me relax a bit and just let me have a day where i don't have to cook, clean up messes, or anything in the nature of "mommy duties." of course that doesn't mean time away from baby duties. i love my little one. and i'd say, yeah, happy mother. not just today, but most days. he brings me so much joy. he's my buddy. it's hard to believe this little guy was in my belly just 18 short months ago.

now, don't get me wrong, the unfortunate part about "breeding" is that your kids get the best and worst of you both. in our case, mine got all our stubborness, independence, and the "i can do it myself" attitude. but i get that about him. so when i'm at my wits, i just grab a mirror, take a look, assume some responsibility, say a desperate prayer with a quick "i'm so sorry lord for what you put up with in all my imperfections", and then get on my way.
SO i guess in celebration of all the madness of raising this little wonder and the wonderful man that gave him to me, i really just wanted to spend some time enjoying them both. i kissed and loved on my little one and just watched his curiosity grow as he investigated the entire front patio and lawn area. we worked this afternoon to get it all put together and cleaned up. we've been wanting to put some furniture out there (because i have a fabulous, huge, covered front patio) and we finally have it looking ready to use and entertain with.

we ended the full afternoon with a delicious bbq meal. i'd say not bad for my second mother's day. can't wait for more to come. hope your day was just as happy as mine.
