calling all mommies

just thought i'd take full advantage of the internet to ask you mommies what activities you know of going on through out the summer that maybe you and your kiddos participate in. our normal routine consists of the park, pool, and now the zoo (and occasionally feeding the ducks). but does anyone else know of fun, relatively inexpensive things to do with kids? keep in mind mines 17 months. he's up an running & climbing just fine, but there may be a few limitations on what things i let him do (not him of course. he thinks he can do anything :O).) so i'm all ears.

We love the zoo! My girls also love the library. Yours is a bit young but you might check into reading programs - I think they have certain days where they read to little ones.

we do the pool quite a bit. last year we discovered eagle island and had a blast..pack a picnic, hang on the beach, they also have a slide. i know he's young, but the zoo has great animal camps for when he gets older. we are total bums in the summer and i love it...those lazy, summer days.

i know it's an at home activity but since my kids were rykon's age i would buy a little plastic swimming pool and let them have at it. i fill it up as soon as i wake up so it warms up a little and then they are in and out all day.

Hmm, let me think to way back to 17 mos... I'm with Jen, a plastic pool in the backyard is great, especially with a little slide into it. I've got a turtle sandbox that needs a new home soon if you're interested. Camel's Back is great to hike and get some of that boy energy out. Walks on the greenbelt, with a stop at the sandy spots to play, a picnic with some good books, the nature center, ivywild has a great kiddy pool...

Singing time at the library and any place that has animals, dirt, or water. Maybe I'll keep looking back to YOUR blog for more ideas!!!
